Sinhalese aṡma
According to Clough’s Sinhala English Dictionary, the Sinhalese word aṡmabheda (aṡma, “stone” and bheda, “that breaks”) refers to a “plant (Aerva lanata or Illecebrum lanatum), commonly called polkudupalá.” It is said to be good for nephritic complaints. The first member, aṡma in the compound word aṡmabheda, traces its origin to Tamil akku.
