Sinhalese as

Clough’s Sinhala English Dictionary states that the Sinhalese word as means “horse, seal, signet, angle, corner, bear, half moon, shoulder.” It traces its origin to the Tamil root akku through the transformation of akku > aṡ > áṡri > as. The following words, related to Sinhalese as, also originate from Tamil akku.
